Summary Explanation/Background
The Broward County Local Provider Participation Fund Ordinance ("LPPF Ordinance") as set forth in Article V of Chapter 16 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances allows for the imposition of a uniform non-ad valorem special assessment upon private hospitals in Broward County ("Hospitals") to help finance the non-federal share of the State of Florida's Medicaid program
("Special Assessment").

The proposed Ordinance amends the LPPF Ordinance by streamlining and modifying certain procedures the Hospitals must follow for the annual imposition of the Special Assessment. If certain conditions are met, the proposed amendments will allow the Hospitals the option to submit to the County a release of liability agreement in lieu of an indemnification, hold harmless, and release of liability agreement now required under the LPP...
