Summary Explanation/Background
Section 1-233(g) of the Broward County Code of Ordinance establishes the number of members needed to constitute a quorum for meetings of advisory or other boards.

The proposed Ordinance provides that, to the extent permitted by Florida law, a quorum for advisory and certain other boards is a majority of the total appointed board members provided that a minimum of three appointed board members are in attendance physically.

Exhibit 2 is a proposed amendment submitted by Commissioner Bogen providing that the physical presence element for a quorum may be met by either the presiding member or at least three (3) members being physically present at the meeting.

If this proposed Ordinance is enacted by the Board, the Office of the County Attorney will prepare and distribute guidance to County staff as to the application of the amended quorum rules for specific advisory and other boards.
