MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2020-047 directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of a Public Hearing to be held on Tuesday, February 25th, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., to consider adoption of a proposed Resolution amending the Broward County Administrative Code to establish new fees for the operation of a Wellness Clinic at the Animal Care and Adoption Division shelter and provides the Director of the Division with authority to wave or reduce impound, boarding, and rabies tag registration fees.

Board approval is required per the Broward County Charter which requires the posting of notice and a Public Hearing for adoption of amendments to the Broward County Administrative Code.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND GROWTH MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE ANIMAL CARE AND ADOPTION DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
On April 3, 2012, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution No. 2012-271, authorizing the establishment of a financially feasible No Kill Strategic Plan, with the intent to become a No Kill Community. As part of the Fiscal Year 2020 budget process, the Board approved funding to the Animal Care and Adoption Division to add a wellness clinic at the main Division shelter. The wellness clinic is intended to be self-supported by revenues generated from wellness clinic services, following a ramp up period.
