MOTION TO DIRECT Office of the County Attorney to draft an Ordinance amending the Capital Improvements Element (CIE) of the Broward County Comprehensive Plan, BrowardNEXT2.0, specifically amending Objective CI1 and related Policies CI1.11 and CI1.14 to reflect a new Table CI-O that contains the Transportation Surtax projects, as well as adding the adopted 2020 schedule of capital improvements of the Board of County Commissioners and the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization to meet statutory requirements.

Why Action is Necessary
Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes (F.S.) requires the enactment of an Ordinance during a public hearing to adopt comprehensive plan amendments. Section 163.3177(3)(b), F.S. requires that the local five-year capital improvements schedule be updated in the CIE annually. Policy CI1.14 of the County's Capital Improvements Element requires the County to add projects that will be funded through Transportation Surtax, approved by the electorate on November 6, 2018, to the CIP by Fiscal Year 2020.

THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND GROWTH MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
