THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS/BOARDS SECTION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THIS ITEM.

A. The Racial Equity Task Force (RETF) is comprised of 37 members appointed by the Broward County Commission. The Broward League of Cities nominates Matthew Sparks to be appointed by the County Commission to serve on the RETF. The County Attorney has determined that Commissioner Sparks qualifies for appointment (Exhibit 1).

B. Approval of this item would give rise to certain employment conflicts under Section 112.313(7)(a), Florida Statutes, which provides that "no public officer...shall have or hold any employment or contractual relationship with any busines...
