THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS/BOARDS SECTION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THIS ITEM.

The Police and Criminal Justice Review Board (PCJRB) is comprised of 24 members appointed by the Broward County Commission. A clergy organization representing a broad range of denominations and faith groups may nominate a member to be appointed by the County Commission.

Kamruz Hosein was nominated by the board of directors of JAM & ALL Interfaith to serve on the PCJRB. The County Attorney has determined that Mr. Hosein qualifies for appointment (Exhibit 1).

JAM & ALL was founded in response to the events of 9/11 by a rabbi and an Imam. They believed it was important to get Muslims and Jews together to get to know one another and understand each other's traditions. So they formed a group called JAM - Jews and Muslims. Very soon after, people of other faiths wanted to become involved, too, so the organization changed its name to JAM & ALL.
