Summary Explanation/Background
THE PARKS AND RECREATION DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
The Hollywood North Beach Mooring Field project (Project) includes both marine construction and upland site construction at the Loggerhead Park site of Hollywood North Beach Park. Marine construction includes dredging and landfill disposal of approximately 12,000 cubic yards of waterway bottom sediments, construction of 29 boat mooring slips, and aluminum floating docks. Upland site construction includes an 800 square foot services building, sitework with concrete sidewalks, site water/sewer/electric service, site lighting, decorative aluminum picket fencing, and landscaping.
On December 6, 2022 (Item No. 58), the Board enacted an ordinance for establishment of the Loggerhead Park Mooring Field which will allow the County to better regulate transient boaters and derelict vessels in the area and will also allow for the recreational use of mooring spots by transient boaters through permitted registration.
