Summary Explanation/Background
On November 15, 2022 (Item Nos. 67 and 68), the Board approved four contracts with Universal Protection Service, LLC d/b/a Allied Universal Security Services, LLC ("Allied") and Global Security Consulting Group, Inc. ("Global") for security guard services at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Perry Airport, and Port Everglades.
Allied and Global are required to pay certain living wage and health care benefit costs. The current healthcare benefit cost amount is $3.76/hour per covered employee; however, the actual cost to Allied and Global to continue the employees' current health care coverage for 2024 is $4.06/hour, based upon information provided by Allied and Global (Exhibit 1).
