Summary Explanation/Background

THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE RECORDS, TAXES AND TREASURY DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

On November 6, 2018, Florida voters approved a constitutional amendment that requires every County to have an elected tax collector by 2025. County agencies have been preparing for the transition to an elected tax collector. As part of the preparation, the County has begun establishing bank accounts necessary for the independent tax collector to assume banking and financial operations. The Employer Identification Number (EIN) is required by financial institutions in order to identify the individual or business responsible for financial and tax-related reporting.
