Summary Explanation/Background
THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT, THE ACCOUNTING DIVISION, AND THE LIBRARIES DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The Broward County Libraries Division requests authorization for seven employees to travel to Tallahassee, Florida from July 11 - 13, 2024, to attend the 2024 Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute (SSLLI) Graduation Ceremony (Exhibit 1). The seven employees applied for and were selected by SSLLI to participate in the intensive and rewarding learning experience that required significant time, energy and commitment from participants and their libraries. These seven employees are graduating from the program.

The Libraries Division recognizes the importance of the SSLLI objectives, which includes developing diverse leaders who can serve in library leadership roles, retaining staff currently working in the library and information management professions by helping them develop new leadership skills, building collaborative networks within the library community across the state that are sustainable, and establishing professional support systems using recognized leaders as mentors.
