Summary Explanation/Background

THE OFFICE OF ECONOMIC AND SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (OESBD) RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

This item supports the Board’s vision of “a vibrant economy with a diverse, skilled workforce, in a County offering unique advantages that attract all types of businesses to create equitable, countywide prosperity,” through the value of “ensuring economic opportunities for all people and businesses in Broward.”

As part of the implementation of the new Strategic Job Creation Incentive Program enacted on June 13, 2023, and as a result of feedback from the County Auditor, amendments are recommended to clarify the requirements of the new Strategic Job Creation Incentive Program and the existing Direct Cash Incentive Program.  The proposed amendments will update the definitions and clarify some of the requirements of the two incentive programs.
