Summary Explanation/Background
The City of Parkland has requested that the County enact an Ordinance, as permitted by Section 316.212(8), Florida Statutes, to allow golf cart operation on sidewalks adjacent to specific segments of municipal streets, county roads, or state highways if the local government entity with jurisdiction over the area makes certain specific findings regarding the condition and current use of the sidewalks, consults with the Department of Transportation, restricts maximum speed to 15 miles an hour, and requires compliance with certain equipment requirements and notice requirements.
This item, if approved, would direct the Office of the County Attorney to work with staff to prepare an appropriate Ordinance for consideration by the Board.
