Marta-Beth Freidman, who passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, was a longtime member of the County’s Library Advisory Board and was instrumental in the establishment of the Stirling Road Branch Library.
This item acknowledges the submittal by Mayor Rich of a proposal to name the Stirling Road Branch Library in honor of Ms. Friedman, and provides public notice of the Mayor’s request to the County Administrator to expeditiously process the proposal in accordance with Section 18.43 of the Broward County Administrative Code, including solicitation of public input over summer recess, an August 22, 2024, item to set a public hearing, and a public hearing on September 5, 2024, at which the Board may consider the proposed renaming, all as consistent with applicable process.
