Why Action is Necessary
In accordance with the Broward County Procurement Code, Section 21.47, Award and Execution Authority, the Board of County Commissioners’ approval is required for threshold increases above the $500,000 award authority of the Director of Purchasing.
What Action Accomplishes
Provides additional funding threshold to ensure continuity of service and timely responses for unanticipated demand of air conditioning rental equipment services for the Facilities Management Division and various County Agencies during the remaining final term of the contract.

THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
On December 10, 2019, the Director of Purchasing awarded Contract No. BLD2118928B1_1 Equipment Rental Services to Trane US, Inc. with an initial one-year term and two optional one-year renewal terms.
On February 22, 2023, the Director of Purchasing increased the overall threshold by $500,000.
