Summary Explanation/Background
On February 26, 2019, the Board created the Fair Campaign Practices Committee (“Committee”) to render nonbinding opinions concerning allegations of unethical campaign practices filed with the Committee. The Committee has been largely inactive since the COVID-19 pandemic, often due to problems with obtaining a quorum.
This item directs the County Attorney’s Office to propose edits to the Code to facilitate reactivation of the Committee, such as updating the entities that nominate Committee members and modifying meeting requirements.
