This item is necessary to allow the Board to direct the County Administrator to commence the process of transitioning E-911 operator services, including call-taking and dispatch services, to the County by October 1, 2027.

Summary Explanation/Background

The Board of County Commissioners has been assessing the County’s discretionary and contractual relationships with the BSO, including E-911 operator services, which include call-taking and dispatch services for the E-911 regional communications system.

 

At the October 6, 2026, Board meeting, the Board directed that an item be placed on the October 20, 2026, agenda to direct County Administration to transition E-911 Operator services to County operational control by October 1, 2027.
