Summary Explanation/Background

The Broward County Film Commission administers incentive programs for television, film, and entertainment production projects (“Incentive Programs”) to provide funding to television, film, and entertainment production companies that bring their activities to Broward County.

Currently, unless otherwise approved in advance by the Board, incentives awarded pursuant to the Incentive Programs may only be paid on a reimbursement basis. Based upon the implementation of the Incentive Programs over the last three years, the Film Commissioner recommends modifying the way incentives may be paid to also permit payment upon completion of specific performance-based milestones. If the Resolution is adopted, incentives may be paid on either a reimbursement basis or upon completion of specific performance-based milestones identified in the incentive agreement.
