Summary Explanation/Background
Broward County created Redevelopment Units, defined as additional permitted dwelling units equal to 3% of the total number of dwelling units as established by the adoption of the BrowardNext - Broward County Land Use Plan on April 25, 2017.
The City of Wilton Manors has requested the allocation of 750 Redevelopment Units per Broward County Land Use Plan Policy 2.35.1, including at least 10% of the units deed restricted to low- or very-low income housing for a period of 30 years. The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the above referenced item at its October 24, 2024, meeting, and recommended approval of the City’s request. (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous; 12-0: Abramson, Brunson, DiGiorgio, Fisher, Hardin, Horland, Newbold, Railey, Rosenof, Werthman, Zeman and Gomez).
Further, if the County Commission sets the public hearing, the full report and associated attachments will be included as an exhibit to the public hearing item.
