Summary Explanation/Background

THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT, THE ACCOUNTING DIVISION, AND THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The Broward County Transportation Department (BCT) requests authorization for five employees to travel to Montreal, Canada from September 10 - 14, 2024 to attend the GIRO HASTUS International User’s Group 2024 Conference (Exhibit 1).

BCT has used various versions of the HASTUS software to develop its schedule for bus service since 2001. BCT is working with HASTUS on new and updated modules to support daily operations including customer service. BCT is also currently in the process of migrating the current Bus Operator dispatching and timekeeping system that interfaced with KRONOS and is no longer supported to a new HASTUS module.

The HASTUS International User’s Group 2024 Conference incorporates a variety of learning and networking opportunities, including dozens of workshops, training sessions, case studies, presentations, and roundtables with the HASTUS solution experts and users from around the world. BCT employees will participate in the conference to learn GIRO’s public transportation software solutions for data analysis, planning, scheduling, operations, and customer information.
