A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO THE RULES OF PROCEDURE AND GENERAL, FISCAL, AND OTHER POLICIES OF THE BROWARD COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS (“COMMISSION”); AMENDING VARIOUS SECTIONS OF CHAPTER 18 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE CODE (“ADMINISTRATIVE CODE”) REGARDING COMMISSION PROCEDURES AND POLICIES; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background
The proposed Resolution is a comprehensive update to Chapter 18 of the Administrative Code regarding Commission procedures and policies. The proposed changes include adding the tricounty area to preapproved travel for Commissioners, documenting the protocol for speaking engagements recently discussed by the Commission, and a revised naming policy for County property. The proposed Resolution also includes routine updates to conform to current practices, to delete obsolete or unnecessary provisions, and to utilize consistent references throughout the chapter.
The material changes proposed in the Resolution are summarized in a separate chart (Exhibit 2). Timely notice has been published in accordance with the applicable requirements to permit the Commission’s consideration of the proposed Resolution.
