MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution, the title of which is as follows:
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO ALTERATIONS TO VOTING PRECINCTS PURSUANT TO SECTION 101.001, FLORIDA STATUTES; DIRECTING THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR TO TRANSMIT A CERTIFIED COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE BROWARD COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Why Action is Necessary
Pursuant to Section 101.001(1), Florida Statutes, approval by the Board of County Commissioners (“Commission”) is required to establish or alter voting precincts upon the recommendation and approval of the Broward County Supervisor of Elections.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE BROWARD COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THIS ITEM.
In 2022, following the decennial census and the redistricting process, the Commission approved new voting precincts for the County and new precinct maps as recommended by the Broward County Supervisor of Elections.
Based upon review of recent election-cycle data, the Supervisor of Elections has identified additional precinct adjustments he believes would benefit the County’s electorate and comply with statutory requirements. A memorandum from the Supervisor of Elections (Exhibit 1) explains the proposed changes.
Pursuant to Section 101.001(1), Florida Statutes, the Supervisor of Elections has recommended and approved the adjustments to the voting precincts as shown in Exhibit A to the proposed Resolution (Exhibit 2). The effective date of the proposed Resolution is April 1, 2026, to allow sufficient time for the Supervisor of Elections to prepare and submit the necessary documentation to the State of Florida.
