Summary Explanation/Background

THE PUBLIC WORKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE WATER AND WASTEWATER ENGINEERING DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The proposed Resolution (Exhibit 1) allows the County to accept nonexclusive and perpetual utility easements of variable widths located on portions of the Southeast Quarter of Section 32, Township 48 South, Range 42 East, Broward County, Florida.

This item relates to an existing 42-inch sanitary sewer force main owned and maintained by the County. The existing sanitary sewer force main was installed in 1975 within the Pompano Canal right-of-way and transmits wastewater from retail service area District 1 and Large User municipalities to the North Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant for treatment. This easement is required so that Broward County can continue to maintain the sanitary sewer force main and associated appurtenances serving the public in perpetuity.

The Resolution and the Easement Agreement have been reviewed and approved as to form by the County Attorney’s Office.
