Summary Explanation/Background

THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/REAL PROPERTY AND REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT DIVISION, AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT DIVISION, RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

Broward County (“County”) is the owner of certain real property located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (“Property”), as more particularly described in the legal description included in the Quitclaim Deed. As part of the Broward County Convention Center expansion project, the County applied to the Florida Department of Transportation (“FDOT”) for a permit and, as a condition of the issuance of the permit, FDOT requires that the County convey the Property to FDOT for right-of-way purposes. The Property is not needed for County purposes and will serve a public purpose as a right-of-way.

The proposed Resolution authorizes the Mayor and Clerk to execute the Quitclaim Deed conveying the Property to FDOT for right-of-way purposes.

The Resolution and Quitclaim Deed have been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
