Summary Explanation/Background

A. The Broward Sheriff’s Office submits this LETF request for the Public Safety Exchange Program. This funding will support structured training sessions, workshops, fields demonstrations, and hands-on experience with advanced technologies used by the Broward Sheriff’s Office and partner public safety agencies. This program will foster collaboration among similar public safety agencies across the globe, enhancing operational readiness and emergency preparedness through the exchange of best practices, innovative strategies, and emerging technologies within the public safety field.

B. The Broward Sheriff’s Office submits this LETF request to fund the Camera Analytics & Investigative Intelligence Project. This funding will enhance the operational capabilities of the Broward Sheriff’s Office Real Time Crime Center by integrating advanced analytics and behavioral detection technologies into the existing camera network. Additionally, this funding will support the expansion of camera-based analytic and behavioral detection capabilities across additional cameras within the system.

C. The Broward Sheriff’s Office submits this LETF request for the Sheriff’s Community Outreach Program. The requested funding will enable the Office of the Sheriff to participate in community events frequently attended by elected officials and community leaders. Through attendance at these events, the program will disseminate information regarding career opportunities and various public safety outreach activities, promote crime prevention strategies, strengthen community partnerships, and support the agency’s recruitment and staffing efforts.

D. The Broward Sheriff’s Office submits this LETF request for the purchase of an Airport Active Threat Response Vehicle. This funding will support the acquisition of an armored vehicle specifically designed to respond to active threats within the parking garages at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, which have height restrictions. The current 7’3” clearance prevents the SWAT Bearcat from being deployed in these areas. The proposed vehicle will be stationed at Fort Lauderdale- Hollywood International Airport and operated by trained personnel assigned to the airport.
