Summary Explanation/Background

Section 125.0104(4)(e), Florida Statutes, authorizes the establishment of a Tourist Development Council. Chapter 2009-259, Laws of Florida, expanded the membership of the Broward County Tourist Development Council (“Council”) and outlined criteria for future appointments to the Council.

The proposed amendment clarifies the membership requirements of the Council to more closely align with Florida law.

The County Attorney’s Office has coordinated with the County Administrator to ensure that notice of this proposed Ordinance was published ten (10) days prior to this public hearing so that the Board can consider immediate enactment of the proposed Ordinance.
