A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO THE TREE PRESERVATION TRUST FUND; AMENDING SECTIONS 27.186 AND 27.187 OF THE BROWARD COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE CODE (“ADMINISTRATIVE CODE”) RELATED TO EXPENDITURES FROM THE TREE PRESERVATION TRUST FUND; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, INCLUSION IN THE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Why Action is Necessary
A Resolution directing the County Administrator to publish notice of public hearing to consider adoption of the Resolution Amending the Broward County Administrative Code was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners (“Board”) at its meeting of October 21, 2025.

Allows for the Board’s consideration of the Resolution Amending the Broward County Administrative Code.

Summary Explanation/Background
The proposed Resolution authorizes the Public Works and Environmental Services Department (“PWESD”) Director to approve (i) enumerated costs associated with tree planting projects in an amount not to exceed $5,000 (“Cost Reimbursement Requests”); and (ii) PWESD projects in an amount not to exceed $20,000 (“Department Requests”). Amounts exceeding those thresholds shall require Board approval. The proposed Resolution specifically exempts both Cost Reimbursement Requests and Department Requests from consideration by the Tree Preservation Trust Fund Committee (“Committee”).
The proposed Ordinance further amends the amount that the Committee is authorized to disburse from $15,000 to $20,000. Amounts exceeding this threshold shall require Board approval.
