Why Action is Necessary
In accordance with Broward County Procurement Code Section 21.53, Duration of Contracts, a County contract shall not exceed five years in duration without the express approval of the Board.
What Action Accomplishes
Automatically extends the current agreement term for case management, medical cost containment, and nurse case management services under the County’s Workers’ Compensation Program and allows Broward County to further extend the term for up to two optional one-year renewal periods under the same rates, terms, and conditions.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE RISK MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
On April 16, 2019 (Item No. 35), the Board approved an agreement with Corvel Healthcare Corporation, for the provision of Workers' Compensation Medical Cost Containment and Case Management Services, RFP No. GEN2115794P1, for the Risk Management Division, for an initial three-year term estimated at $624,000, which included $42,210 in optional services, and authorized the Director of Purchasing to renew the contract for two additional one-year renewal terms. The agreement also provides for 24/7 injury reporting and immediate care referrals to injured employees.
Approval of this item will extend the term of the Agreement between Broward County and Corvel Healthcare Corporation for Medical Cost Containment and Nurse Case Management Services for the Workers’ Compensation Program (“Agreement”) for one year, from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026. The amendment also provides for up to two optional one-year renewal periods under the same rates, terms, and conditions, with written notice to the Contractor at least 30 days before the expiration of the then-current term.
