Summary Explanation/Background
Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis has requested that the Arts & Cultural Festival and Special Event Sponsorship program (Program) be amended to allow County Commissioners and their offices to apply to receive funds under the Program for events in a municipality represented by the Commissioner. The request includes the following changes, detailed in Exhibit 1, for ease of reference.
• Each Commission office is allocated up to $25,000 from the total allocated funds for this program to be requested at the discretion of the requesting Commissioner or Commission office.
• Commissioners are not subject to the 90-day deadline and can apply for funding any time prior to the start of the proposed event.
• Commissioners may apply for funding to support events that are not explicitly cultural (e.g. sports-related events).
• Funds resulting from an approved application submitted by County Commissioner do not apply toward a municipality’s total potential funds in a given sponsorship cycle.
• A commissioner is also allowed to use approved funds for their event, in any county owned facility across the county
