Summary Explanation/Background
THE PARKS AND RECREATION DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
On June 14, 2017 (Item No. 73), County and Worldwide Sports Management Group, LLC (“Worldwide”), entered into an agreement (including as amended, the “Agreement”) for the promotion and management of International Cricket Events and Major Cricket Events at Central Broward Regional Park.
On March 5, 2019 (Item No. 38), County and Worldwide entered into a First Amendment to the Agreement to reduce Worldwide’s performance obligations under the Agreement. On April 6, 2021 (Item No. 57), County and Worldwide entered into a Second Amendment to the Agreement in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to reduce Worldwide’s annual guarantee, to provide specified time for Worldwide to become current on fees owed to County, to provide additional time for Worldwide to complete its requirements under the capital improvements schedule, and to remove Worldwide's obligation to provide internet services.
On September 9, 2021 (Item No. 35), County and Worldwide entered into a Third Amendment to the Agreement waiving and further deferring certain fees owed by Worldwide to County, revising the schedule for capital improvements to provide Worldwide additional time for completion of the required capital improvements, and extending the initial term of the Agreement by 24 months, through June 13, 2024 (the “Renewal Date”).
On August 21, 2023, County sent an official notice of breach to Worldwide regarding Worldwide’s failure to meet the insurance and capital improvement requirements set forth in the Agreement. At this time, Worldwide was put on notice the restroom refurbishment/referee room build out was late, as it was required to be completed on or before June 13, 2023 (the “CY6 Improvements”). To date, Worldwide has yet to receive a certificate of occupancy for the CY6 Improvements.
The Agreement allows for automatic renewals for up to two, five-year periods at Worldwide’s sole option, so long as Worldwide has not failed to satisfactorily remedy a breach consistent with the terms of the Agreement.

Fiscal Impact
Fiscal Impact/Cost Summary
Worldwide pays to County an annual guarantee of $84,000 each contract year, along with other ancillary fees for its use of the stadium at Central Broward Regional Park. Approval of this item would therefore result in approximately $500,000 that would have otherwise likely been collected during the first 5-year renewal period.
