Why Action is Necessary
In accordance with Broward County Procurement Code Section 21.47(a), Award and Execution Authority, Board approval is required for awards exceeding $500,000, inclusive of the value of any renewals or extensions provided for in the contract.
What Action Accomplishes
Provides for the opportunity to purchase industrial and commercial supplies and equipment, purchased repetitively or on emergencies, and as a means for inventory reduction through expeditious shipment of products, aggregation, and purchasing of a variety of products from the same vendor with a single order.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE PURCHASING DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
The purpose of this contract is to provide facilities maintenance, repairs, operations, and industrial supplies for all County agencies.
In accordance with its right to use another state’s contract, the State of Florida used the State of Oregon Master Agreement No. 8496. The State of Florida ACS Agreement No. 31160000-20-NASPO-ACS began July 1, 2020, and is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2024.
On July 1, 2020, the County Administrator and the Director of Purchasing jointly approved the request to award W.W. Grainger, Inc. (Grainger), using the State of Florida Alternate Contract Source (ACS) No. 31160000-20-NASPO-ACS, for Facilities Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) and Industrial Supplies, for a not-to-exceed amount of $500,000 as authorized under the Broward County Procurement Code.
On January 12, 2021 (Item No. 20), the Board approved a threshold increase in the amount of $1,200,000 for Contract No. BLD3116000020G1_1, Facilities Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) and Industrial Supplies with Grainger.
On September 9, 2021 (Item No. 23), the Board approved a threshold increase in the amount of $1,200,000 for Contract No. BLD3116000020G1_1, Facilities Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) and Industrial Supplies with Grainger.
On May 24, 2022 (Item No. 51), the Board approved a threshold increase in the amount of $1,643,000 for Contract No. BLD3116000020G1_1, Facilities Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) and Industrial Supplies with Grainger.
On March 14, 2023 (Item No. 28), Motion A., the Board approved a threshold increase in the amount of $800,000 through June 30, 2023, to release encumbered orders, and Motion B. was approved to increase the threshold by an additional $2,400,000 to support anticipated orders through June 30, 2024, for Contract No. BLD3116000020G1_1 Facilities Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) and Industrial Supplies with Grainger.
Since the award on July 1, 2020, expenditures to date are $7,726,785. This contract is used by multiple agencies throughout the County for the purchase of industrial supplies, and an additional threshold increase of $1,000,000 is necessary to fund the Grainger contract for the remaining term, expiring on June 30, 2024, for a new contract threshold of $8,726,785.
The amounts referenced in this agenda have been rounded to the nearest whole dollar. Payments will be based on the maximum amount payable under this Agreement.
