Summary Explanation/Background

The proposed Ordinance amends Sections 27-174 through 27-176 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances ("Code") to repeal the general license and permit requirements relating to County Parking Facility Licenses ("Licenses") that are currently required prior to constructing or modifying a parking facility. The Licenses are no longer deemed necessary as studies have shown no degradation or exceedance of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards caused by or contributed by parking facilities.

On August 25, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners ("Board") directed the Office of the County Attorney to prepare Ordinances to amend or repeal outdated or obsolete provisions of the Code and present such Ordinances for consideration by the Board. Consistent with this direction, this is one of a series of proposed Ordinances for Board consideration to repeal sections of the Code that are obsolete and no longer consistent with the County's current practice.
