Summary Explanation/Background
The NACo Annual Conference will take place July 12-15, 2024, in Hillsborough County, Florida. NACo officers will be elected for the 2024-2025 term during the annual business meeting.
Broward County may cast 30 votes for contested NACo leadership races, or on NACo platform changes and policy resolutions, if any. To exercise these votes, Broward County must electronically submit its completed voting credentials form to NACo by July 8, 2024.
The voting delegate and alternate voting delegate must be a paid registrant to the conference. Designation of a voting delegate and alternate voting delegate allows either person to pick up the County's ballot and to cast all eligible votes. In previous years, the Board has designated attending commissioners and/or staff from the Intergovernmental Affairs/Boards Section of County Administration as the County's voting/alternate voting delegate.
Traditionally, Florida votes as a unit and the Florida Association of Counties holds a caucus meeting at the conference for all attending county delegates to discuss and select the candidate for 2nd Vice President of choice for Florida's counties. This year's caucus meeting has not been scheduled yet but is usually held on the Saturday of the conference weekend. Officer positions for 1st Vice President, President and Past President are not contested.
NACo's voting credentials are electronically submitted at https://www.naco.org/page/naco-voting-credentials.
