Why Action is Necessary
Pursuant to the Department of Health General Services Memorandum 24-01 dated July 7, 2023 (“GSM 24-01”), a county health department (“CHD”) has the discretion to exercise the county rule clause of the county core contract allowing the CHD to follow the local county’s method for procuring lease space (administered by the local county and CHD). Board of County Commissioners’ approval is required to lease property.

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/REAL PROPERTY AND REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
Florida Department of Health, in Broward County has requested the Broward County Board of County Commissioners approve a Business Lease Agreement between the Florida Department of Health, in Broward County acting as the tenant and Lauderhill Mall Investment, LLC acting as the Landlord, for approximately 9,259 square feet of office space located at 1293 NW 40 Avenue, Suite 200 in the City of Lauderhill. The proposed Business Lease Agreement provides a four-year term ending on the last day of the forty-eighth month following the Rent Commencement Date. Annual Base Rent for the business lease will be $239,772 and does not change during the term of the business lease agreement. Rent and any other payments due under the Business Lease will be paid by the State of Florida.
