Why Action is Necessary
Chapter 2, Section 2-40(a) of the Broward County Code of Ordinances requires that the Broward County Board of County Commissioners (“Board”) authorize any commercial activities or the occupation of space at Broward County’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (“FLL”).

Approves the Meals Aloft Permit Agreement (“MAP”) between Broward County (“County”) and Sky Chefs, Inc., (“Sky Chefs”) to continue to provide in-flight catering services to the air carriers at FLL.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action approves the MAP between the County and Sky Chefs to provide non-exclusive in-flight catering services to air carriers at FLL.
On April 25, 2017 (Item No. 4), the Board approved a MAP between the County and Sky Chefs to provide in-flight catering services to air carriers at FLL. The current MAP expires on May 2, 2022.
The proposed MAP allows Sky Chefs to continue providing non-exclusive in-flight catering services to air carriers at FLL.
Sky Chefs has posted a security deposit in the amount of $198,050. The term of the proposed agreement shall commence on May 3, 2022, and terminate on May 2, 2027.
Sky Chefs payments will be based on the actual amount payable under the proposed MAP, which is five percent of gross revenues together with all applicable sales taxes on a monthly basis.
The proposed MAP has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
