Summary Explanation/Background

THE PUBLIC WORKS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The Resolution (Exhibit 1) will grant Broward County a Sight Distance Easement from the United States of America, acting by and through the General Services Administration (GSA), on a portion of real property located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Southeast 3 Avenue, a County road, and Southeast 11 Street in the City of Fort Lauderdale (refer to Exhibit 2 for the Location Map). The Broward County Land Development Code Section 5-192 requires developers to provide right-of-way when developing parcels of land adjacent to County roads to satisfy cross-visibility requirements for vehicles and pedestrians at pedestrian crosswalks. The executed Sight Distance Easement (Exhibit 3) will provide adequate sight distance and cross-visibility at the intersection.
