PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/REAL PROPERTY AND REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This item approves an amended and restated utility easement to Florida Power & Light Company (FP&L) on a portion of Broward County-owned property located at 1700 SE 17th Street in the City of Fort Lauderdale (“Easement”). The Easement replaces the Underground Easement recorded on October 16, 2023, as Instrument #119168336, in the Official Records of Broward County, Florida. When the Broward County (“County”) Construction Management Division submitted the request to process the Underground Easement currently in place, they informed the Real Property and Real Estate Development Division that there may be a change in the exact location where the underground infrastructure will be placed and would not know until the work was uncovered. After field verification, it was determined the Underground Easement will need to be amended to change the location of the easement area to align with the needs of the project.
Broward County is in the process of constructing a high-rise hotel adjacent to the Broward County Convention Center. The Easement will allow FP&L to install duct banks and conduct overhead to underground conversions to provide FP&L power to the Project.
The Easement has been reviewed and approved for legal sufficiency by the Office of the County Attorney.
