Why Action is Necessary

Section 2-40(a) of the Broward County Code of Ordinances requires that the Broward County Board of County Commissioners (“Board”) authorize any commercial activities or occupation of any portion of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (“FLL”) for any purpose unless specifically authorized by Broward County (“County”).

Approves the new Meals Aloft Permit Agreement between the County and MCWC, LLC d/b/a Air Catering International to provide in-flight passenger catering services at FLL.

Summary Explanation/Background

THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

 

This action approves the Meals Aloft Permit Agreement (“MAP”) between the County and MCWC, LLC d/b/a Air Catering International (“MCWC”) to provide in-flight passenger catering services to Eastern Air Express, LLC at FLL.

 

The term of the MAP shall commence on the date it is fully executed by the parties and continue on a month-to-month basis, provided that the term shall not exceed a total of five years. MCWC shall pay 5% of gross revenues, together with all applicable sales taxes, to County for the current contract year.

 

The proposed MAP has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney and the Risk Management Division.

Fiscal Impact/Cost Summary

As this is a new MAP to provide in-flight passenger catering services, BCAD cannot estimate the annual payment. MCWC shall pay 5% of gross revenues, together with all applicable sales taxes thereon, to County on a monthly basis.
