Summary Explanation/Background

The Broward Sheriff’s Office supports this LETF request to purchase Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) to be used by the Wilton Manors Police Department. BSO will procure 24 ALPRs to be installed in the City of Wilton Manors, all of which will be integrated into the BSO Real Time Crime Center for law enforcement monitoring. ALPRs will be used for different law enforcement purposes. ALPRs will increase identification and apprehensions of those involved in major crimes. ALPRs will decrease overall crime rate. The federal LETF funds used for the purpose are funds that were earned in federal task force operations and represent a portion of the City of Wilton Manors's share of the funds that are maintained by BSO as required by Federal Equitable Sharing Rules.
