Summary Explanation/Background

THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

This action approves the TBLA between County and the FBI for the lease and use of office space in Terminal 3, at no charge, in exchange for the FBI providing law enforcement services at FLL.

On October 5, 2021, (Item No. 2), the Board approved the current TBLA between County and the FBI for the lease of 315 square feet of office space in Terminal 3. The current TBLA expires on December 5, 2026.

The proposed TBLA allows the FBI to continue leasing the office space at no charge. The FBI currently supports the overall security of FLL and its passengers by providing investigative and federal law enforcement services. These services are provided at no cost to County and in coordination with the Broward Sheriff’s Office and the Transportation Security Administration. The use of the office space permits the FBI to maintain its computer network and sensitive information in a secure area. This results in a more efficient operation and provides a shorter response time to incidents and inquiries.

The proposed TBLA has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney and the Risk Management Division.
