Summary Explanation/Background

Pursuant to a 2018 amendment to the Florida Constitution, the elected Tax Collector now performs the duties relating to the annual sale of tax certificates. These duties were previously performed by the Broward County Finance and Administrative Services Department (“FASD”). Because certificate sales are no longer performed by FASD, the proposed Ordinance would repeal the section of the Code that established the rules of the sales when conducted by FASD.
