Summary Explanation/Background

On August 25, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners (“Board”) directed the Office of the County Attorney to prepare Ordinances to amend or repeal outdated or obsolete provisions of the Broward County Code of Ordinances (“Code”) and present such Ordinances for consideration by the Board. This is one of a series of Ordinances consistent with that direction.

This proposed Ordinance amends Sections 1-171 through 1-177 of the Code to be consistent with current practice regarding the content and procedures for updating the Broward County Administrative Code and the County Administrative Policies and Procedures (“CAPP”) and regarding the issuance of other administrative orders. The proposed Ordinance repeals Section 1-178, which generally prohibited third parties from altering or tampering with the Administrative Code (e.g., by removing pages), and Section 1-179, which required signature by the Mayor and attestation by the County Administrator for effectiveness of Resolutions amending the Administrative Code.
