Broward County Board of County Commissioners (“Board”) approval is required for the execution of this Standard Grant Agreement (“SGA”).

Summary Explanation/Background
THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action allows BCAD to accept grant funding from FDEP for the Stormwater Outfall Modifications Project (“Project”) at FLL.
Due to the low ground surface elevations throughout FLL, the airfield areas can experience tidal flooding during periods of high tide elevations. The proposed improvement includes retrofitting backflow preventers on 13 existing primary stormwater outfall pipes to prevent tidal waters from backflowing into the existing Stormwater Management System at FLL. Completion of the Project will prevent tidal flooding, especially during the King Tides season, on the airfield areas at FLL.
The Project’s total estimated cost is $626,066 (“Project Cost”). As outlined in the SGA, FDEP will provide grant funding for 50% of the Project Cost, estimated to be $313,033. Broward County (“County”) will fund the remaining 50% of the Project Cost, estimated to be $313,033, while covering any Project Cost overruns.
The proposed SGA has been reviewed by the Office of the County Attorney. The SGA does not include the County's standard Agreement provisions, as FDEP requires the County to use its form Agreement.
