Summary Explanation/Background

THE PURCHASING DIVISION AND THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

There were no goals assigned to this contract because an emergency procurement approved by the Director of Purchasing is exempt from application of participation goals.

On December 27, 2018, the Director of Purchasing awarded emergency procurement, Contract No. PNC2117749Q1, for emergency spalling repairs at the Government Center West and Broward County Judicial Court East Garages in the amount of $284,660.

On August 23, 2019, a First Amendment to the Agreement was executed by the Director of Purchasing in conjunction with the County Administrator to address additional rebar damage that was uncovered as concrete was removed to complete the repairs resulting in an additional 120 calendar days for substantial completion. The Amendment modified the scope of services by adding additional quantities and repairs, which increased the contract amount by $196,608 for a new contract amount of $481,268.

On January 30, 2020, due to the urgent need to ensure uninterrupted spalling repairs, a Second Amendment to the contract was executed by the Assistant Purchasing Director on behalf of the Director of Purchasing; and was subsequently executed by the County Administrator on February 4, 2020. The Second Amendment modified the scope of services by adding additional spalling repairs to the Government Center West Garage, which increased the contract amount by $24,027 for a new contract amount of $505,295.  This amendment added an additional 90 calendar days for substantial completion. The project is currently in its final stages and the anticipated date for completion was February 28, 2020.

The amounts referenced in this agenda have been rounded to the nearest whole dollar. Payments will be based on the maximum amount payable under this Agreement.
