Summary Explanation/Background
The proposed development of the Loggerhead Park Mooring Field at Loggerhead Park, one of five pocket parks of Hollywood North Beach Park, includes 29 public mooring slips adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway in the coves north and south of Sheridan Street. The proposed facility will include floating docks for access to upland park facilities, a vessel sewage pump-out station, an exclusive use general services building with a management office, laundry room, restrooms and showers, and other general site improvements. The proposed Ordinance would establish the Loggerhead Park Mooring Field and designate responsibility to the Director of the Parks and Recreation Division to issue and enforce permits for boaters who wish to utilize the mooring facility. Establishment of a mooring field will allow the County to better regulate transient boaters and derelict vessels in the area and will allow for the recreational use of mooring spots by transient boaters through permitted registration.
