Summary Explanation/Background
Chapter 15 of the Code establishes the membership composition of the Broward Regional Emergency Medical Services (“EMS”) Council, which currently includes representatives of medical, fire rescue, hospital, emergency management, and other community stakeholder entities, as well as a County Commissioner.
The proposed Ordinance, if enacted, would amend Chapter 15 of the Code to add an alternate County Commissioner, nominated by the Mayor, to serve on the EMS Council. The alternate County Commissioner may attend the meetings but would not be counted toward a quorum or vote except when serving in place of the designated County Commissioner. The alternate County Commissioner would be exempt from the attendance, removal, and reappointment provisions of Section 1-233 of the Code.
The Business Impact Estimate (Exhibit 3) will be distributed as additional material.
