Summary Explanation/Background

The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed small-scale amendment, PC 22-5, at its October 27, 2022, public hearing and recommended that “while we find no technical fault with staff’s recommendation, as a matter of urban planning essential to the implementation of effective land use planning, we cannot recommend expansion of any landfill facilities within Broward County at this time,” and including not requiring a second Planning Council public hearing. See Exhibit A for the map, recommendations and brief summary and Exhibit B for the applicant’s voluntary commitment regarding use limitations. (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 12-0; Brunson, Castillo, Fernandez, Hardin, Horland, Levy, Parness, Reiter, Rich, Rosenof, Williams and DiGiorgio):
