Summary Explanation/Background
THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE CRISIS INTERVENTION AND SUPPORT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action supports the Commission’s value of “building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives,” and the goal of “delivering accessible human services that holistically address the whole person collaboratively and compassionately.” Funding from FNCAC will be used by the Nancy J. Cotterman Center (“NJCC”) to provide advocacy and mental health services to child victims of abuse and their eligible family members or caregivers.
The Contract is administered by NJCC as the designated Child Advocacy Center in Broward County. Broward County has been awarded this grant annually since State Fiscal Year 2012-2013. FNCAC provided notice to the County of the State Fiscal Year 2024-2025 award of noncompetitive grant funding on August 7, 2024. Retroactive approval of Contract 24/25-GR-CAC26 is being requested due to delayed issuance of the Contract by FNCAC.
The continued funding has allowed for the delivery of direct client services in the form of advocacy and mental health services to child victims of abuse and their eligible family members or caregivers. The deliverables remain substantially the same as in the prior year, and all deliverables for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 have been achieved.
The Contract (Exhibit 1) is in the form required by FNCAC and has been reviewed and approved for legal sufficiency by the Office of the County Attorney. FNCAC will sign last after Commission approval.
