Why Action is Necessary

It is necessary to schedule a public hearing of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners to be held subsequent to receipt of a recommendation from the Broward County Planning Council prior to adoption of an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan.

 

What Action Accomplishes

The Resolution directs the County Administrator to set a public hearing for March 3, 2026, to consider adoption of proposed map amendment PC 24-8, which is a small-scale amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan, pursuant to Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended.

Summary Explanation/Background

The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed small-scale amendment, PC 24-8, at its January 29, 2026, public hearing and recommended approval, recognizing the applicant’s voluntary commitments to 1) mitigate the anticipated impacts to the regional transportation network resulting from the proposed amendment and 2) designate 100 dwelling units as affordable housing units at the “moderate-income” level (up to 120% of median income) for a minimum of 30 years, and including not requiring a second Planning Council public hearing (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 11-0; Abramson, Brunson, Fernandez, Fisher, Hardin, Levy, Newbold, Rosenof, Ryan, Zeman and DiGiorgio):

Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan - City of Hollywood

 

From Recreation and Open Space to 16.6 acres of Irregular (45.2) Residential and 7.1 acres of Commercial Recreation.

 

Approximately 23.7 acres; generally located between Hollywood Boulevard and Pembroke Road and between South Park Road and the CSX Railroad.

 

Further, if the County Commission sets the public hearing, the full amendment report and associated attachments will be included as an exhibit to the public hearing item.
