Summary Explanation/Background

Section 18.63 of the Administrative Code sets forth the process for the acceptance of donations made to Broward County. Currently, Section 18.63 provides that the County Administrator or a designee may accept donations (other than an interest in real property) to Broward County (“County”) valued at less than $10,000.  All other donations must be accepted by a resolution of the Board.

The proposed Resolution amends the Administrative Code to allow the County Administrator or a designee to also accept donations to the County (other than an interest in real property) donated by a governmental entity or agency, regardless of the value of the donation.  As currently provided in the Administrative Code, the County Administrator is required to file a report with the Board describing all donations that were accepted without a resolution of the Board.
