A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, TRANSMITTING A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN TEXT OF THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN REGARDING THE CITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE UPTOWN URBAN VILLAGE ACTIVITY CENTER; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Why Action is Necessary
Pursuant to Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended, the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, serving as the local governing body, shall transmit to designated State agencies proposed amendments to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan for review.
What Action Accomplishes
This action adopts a Resolution to transmit to designated State review agencies a Broward County Land Use Plan map amendment, PC 24-6, and corresponding text amendment PCT 24-3, pursuant to Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed amendments, PC 24-6 and PCT 24-3, at its August 29, 2024, public hearing and recommended approval, subject to the City’s voluntary commitment to restrict 15% (at least 635) of the proposed dwelling units to affordable housing units at the “moderate-income” level or below (up to 120% of median income) for a minimum of 30 years or in-lieu of payment including not requiring a second Planning Council public hearing (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 15-0; Abramson, Castillo, Fisher, Gomez, Greenberg, Hardin, Harrison, Horland, Levy, Newbold, Railey, Ryan, Werthman, Zeman and DiGiorgio):
